New CPU cooler for my PC

Just this morning, I decided to add some "REAL COOL" stuff on my personal computer. I chose to add the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B CPU cooler on my PC to keep my CPU temperature at its coolest.

Scythe Ninja Plus Revision B

Unleashing the package...

The package contains the following:

  • 4 screws
  • 1 AMD socket 754/939/940/AM2 mounting clip
  • 1 Intel socket 478 mounting clip
  • 1 Intel socket LGA775 mounting clip
  • 1 gigantic heat sink fan with 6 copper heat pipes
  • 1 120mm Scythe Fan with locks
  • This is my first time to use an after market cooling device. I was so excited to mount this gigantic monster on my processor.

First of all, I would like to state my current computer specification.

    Current Computer Spec:

  • Pentium 4 2.8Ghz processor socket 478(not overclocked)
  • Intel 945GBM2-L socket 478
  • 1GB Kingston DDR2 667
  • 7300GT Sonic 256MB 128Bit GDDR3 PCI-E
  • 160GB Western Digital Caviar 7200RPM
  • 500W Power Logic PSU

Upon using then stock heat sink fan from the Intel processor package my temperature was 23c at IDLE and 31c at full load.

    Stage: Mounting the cooler

Mounting the cooler was not that complicated, I just followed the manual. Screwed the heat sink to the proper mounting clip for my motherboard and installed the fan on the side. It was easy and fun, actually.

My system really "ROCKS" at this point! Haha. Kind of falling in love with the way it looks. ANGAS!

Lastly, I have to mount my motherboard inside my system case. As I was trying to mount my motherboard I encountered a problem in screwing my board to my system case. I need to screw my board on its upper part to keep it sturdy, but I find it hard to do due to the gigantic size of the heat sink. Darn!

However, I still was able to do it. I just had to transfer the fan on the other side of the heat sink this time.

And now, I present to you the new look of my system unit...

After the CPU cooler installation, it's time to test how it reduces my CPU temperature.

Amazingly, the Scythe Ninja Plus CPU cooler has given me a much cooler CPU with an IDLE temp of 13c and 17c in full load. WOW! now that is COOL!

In addition, I really drool over after market CPU coolers, especially when it's over sized. I, personally really like the Scythe Ninja Plus from the first time I saw one. So now, I have one!
